A disturbing and tragic incident unfolded in Bengaluru’s Konanakunte police station area when a domestic dispute between a husband and wife took a horrifying turn. The husband, identified as Vijayakumar, in a fit of anger, bit off and consumed his wife’s finger. The victim, named Pushpa, suffered unimaginable trauma at the hands of her own spouse. The shocking episode occurred on July 28, and it is reported that Pushpa, unable to endure her husband’s wrath any longer, had already been living separately with her son in a different residence. However, even in her new abode, she couldn’t escape the clutches of her abusive husband, Vijayakumar. The altercation between the two turned violent, leading to Vijayakumar committing this heinous act. He not only bit off his wife’s left finger but also horrifyingly threatened to do the same to her and even end her life. Pushpa and Vijayakumar had been married for 23 years, but for a significant period after their marriage, Pushpa endured both mental and physical torture at the hands of her husband. Finally, she mustered the courage to leave him and sought refuge in a different home with their son. Unfortunately, last month, Vijayakumar found his way to Pushpa’s new residence, and an altercation ensued, resulting in the dreadful act of biting off her finger. Shocked and traumatized, Pushpa promptly lodged a complaint against her husband at the Konnakunte police station, detailing the incident and the added threats he made, including deploying rowdies to harm her and take her life. The police have taken cognizance of the matter and are pursuing appropriate legal action against Vijayakumar.
