Nepal has issued permits for 1,270 climbers to ascend 45 of its iconic mountains this fall season, according to the Department of Tourism on Thursday. This year’s popular peaks include Mount Ama Dablam with 463 permits, Mount Manaslu with 308, and Mount Himlung Himal with 144.
The diverse group of climbers, representing 73 countries, includes 289 female mountaineers. With this influx of international climbers, Nepal has generated $575,253 in permit fees, adding a significant boost to its economy.
The autumn climbing season, spanning from September to November, is an ideal time for expeditions due to favorable weather. “We are still receiving inquiries, so this number may increase in the coming weeks,” stated Rakesh Gurung, Director at Nepal’s Department of Tourism.
As climbing season continues, Nepal anticipates a few additional climbers as the country’s pristine peaks draw enthusiasts from around the globe.
