A crash in Queensland resulted in the death of a 69-year-old woman and left two police officers injured. The incident occurred on Thursday morning when a 16-year-old boy, driving a blue Audi allegedly stolen at gunpoint, collided with the woman’s vehicle.
The crash took place in Murrumba Downs, about 20 km north of Brisbane, around 9:45 a.m. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and attempted to resuscitate the woman but were unable to save her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the crash, the Audi hit an unmarked police car, injuring two officers who were inside. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and they were taken to a hospital for treatment. The teenage driver, who sustained significant leg injuries, was arrested at the scene and taken to the hospital for further care.
Earlier that morning, the Audi was reportedly stolen in a carjacking in a nearby suburb, where the woman was threatened at gunpoint. The firearm used in the alleged robbery has been recovered by police.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli expressed his condolences to the victim’s family, and police have called on witnesses to come forward with any information related to the crash.
