In a recent development, two employees of the Brihat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika (BBMP) office in Banashankari’s Karisandra locality were apprehended by the Karnataka Lokayukta police for accepting bribes. The primary accused, Rajagopal, is currently on the run. The incident came to light when the BBMP revenue staff fell into the Lokayukta’s trap while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh. As a result, two individuals, FDA Raghavendra and Data Entry Operator Suresh Datta, were arrested by the authorities, while Rajagopal managed to evade capture. According to reports, the accused Rajagopal demanded a sum of Rs. 1.25 lakh from Arun, a resident of Machohalli, in exchange for facilitating an account transfer. Subsequently, he was caught red-handed while accepting an advance payment of Rs. 1 lakh. The authorities have registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and both arrested individuals will face legal consequences for their actions. The entire incident unfolded when Arun Kumar sought to transfer his account at the BBMP ward office in Karisandra. Exploiting his position, Revenue Inspector Rajagopal sought illicit gains and dispatched two of his colleagues to collect the bribe from Arun Kumar.
