Varanasi Shootout Injures 6 At SP Leader’s Residence

Six individuals, including a six-year-old child, sustained injuries during a shooting incident at the residence of Vijay Yadav, a Samajwadi Party leader and former corporator, in Varanasi’s Dashashavmedh area on Sunday, according to police reports.

The incident, which occurred at Vijay Yadav’s home, has been characterized by the SP leader as an attempt to murder his entire family, as per his complaint lodged with the police. An FIR has been filed against several named suspects, including Ankit Yadav, Shobhit Verma, Govind Yadav, Sahil Yadav, and others whose identities remain unknown.

Among those injured are Nirbhay Yadav, aged six, along with Kiran Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Dinesh Yadav, and Shubham alias Golu. All victims are currently receiving treatment at a hospital and are said to be in stable condition.

In response to the incident, Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal has taken action by suspending Rakesh Pal, the station in-charge (SI) of Dashashavmedh police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pramod Kumar has assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the accused individuals. Furthermore, authorities intend to pursue legal action under the Uttar Pradesh Gangs and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act and National Security Act against the suspects involved.

The motive behind the attack remains under investigation as authorities continue their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
