Proponent Of Dvaita Philosophy Passes Away While Preaching Rama Niryana

Raghavendra Upadhyaya, Dvaita Philosopher, Professor, Author, Court scholar of Ashta Math of Sri Krishna Math, collapsed and fell ill after giving a discourse with the divine grace of Swamiji of Bhandarkeri Math in Bengaluru on June 14. He passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 72.

Born into a scholarly family, Upadhyaya was loyal to his tradition and devoted to the various rituals and followed them throughout his life. He retired as professor of Dvaita Vedanta philosophy at Sri Mannadva Siddhanta Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Udupi.

He is famous for his constant spiritual thought columns in many monthly magazines such as Sugunamala, Sarvamoola Tatva etc. He is an important link of the older generations of scholars of Dvaita Vedanta Philosophy. His sermon series were held at Karamballi Brahman Association. He recently participated in the mandalotsava at Ayodhya under the leadership of Pejavara Swamiji.

Having a strong hold on Madhwa Shastra, Upadhyaya could speak very proficiently with confidence about Madhva Philosophy. He was honoured by Sri Krishna Math and almost all other Madhva math.

He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters and many admirers and followers.

His sudden dismiss was deeply condoled by the swamiji’s of Ashta Math, Udupi, Bhandarkeri, Chitrapur, Mantralaya,  Taluk Brahmin Association, Yuva Brahmin Association, Karamballi zone Brahmin Association,   Purohith Association, management and members of Sanskrit Association, former MLA K Raghupati Bhat, MLA Yashpal Suvarna and others.
