On Saturday, Aditya Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) and President of Yuva Sena, expressed his gratitude to his colleagues following a significant victory in the graduate constituency elections for the University of Mumbai Senate. He celebrated the success, stating, ‘We have achieved a perfect score! This time, we not only repeated our success but improved upon it, achieving a 100% strike rate. This is just the beginning of our winning streak as we head into the Maharashtra Assembly elections’.

Sanjay Raut, the chief spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT), attributed the victory to the hard work of Yuva Sena leaders and members, emphasizing that the votes for the university senate could not be purchased. In contrast, Sankalp Faldesai, the state secretary for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), noted that while they put forth a strong effort, they recognized some strategic mistakes that they would need to review.

The Yuva Sena candidates triumphed over the BJP’s student wing, the ABVP, which failed to secure any seats in these closely watched elections, held after a two-year hiatus. Celebrations erupted as the results came in from various districts, highlighting the Yuva Sena’s dominance in a competitive environment with 28 candidates from different student organizations contesting for the support of 13,406 graduate voters.
