MLA Yashpal Suvarna has issued a warning that BJP representatives and beneficiaries who have been denied scheme benefits will organize a large protest against the government’s plans to cancel Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards. Speaking to the media, Suvarna criticized the government’s decision, stating it stems from difficulties in implementing guarantee schemes introduced without proper surveys.

He referred to the cancellation of BPL cards as the “sixth guarantee,” emphasizing the government’s failure to execute the five existing guarantee schemes that helped the party gain power. Suvarna highlighted that women have not received the promised Rs 2,000 under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme for four months, and neither rice nor financial assistance has been provided under the Anna Bhagya scheme. He also mentioned the inability to implement the Gruha Jyoti scheme, which has led to public discontent due to rising power tariffs.

Concerns have been raised regarding a government list identifying over 400 BPL ration cards in each village for verification, with fears that around 40,000 BPL cards for poor families in the district may be canceled. The MLA accused the Congress government of corruption in various scams while neglecting essential development projects. He vowed that the BJP would stage state-wide protests if BPL cards are canceled without a proper review.
