Police in Chandralayout have arrested five individuals suspected of extorting mobile phones, following a complaint filed on April 24. The complaint detailed an incident where an iPhone 14 Pro, valued at ₹1 lakh, was allegedly taken from a pedestrian in the Nagarbavi Suvarna Layout area, adjacent to the Chandralayout police station jurisdiction.
Subsequent investigations led to the detention and interrogation of one individual, facilitated through the complainant’s mobile phone tracking application. Information provided by this individual led to the arrest of four more suspects. In total, 32 mobile phones, with an estimated total worth of 6.3 lakh, were seized from the group.
This development marks the detection of three cases of mobile phone extortion under the purview of the Chandralayout police station.
