The tenth edition of Vidwat Sammilan was held at Kristu Jayanti College on September 24, 2024. Dr. K Muthulekshmi, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, was the chief guest. She discussed the diverse approaches and methodologies related to Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).
In her speech, Dr. Muthulekshmi introduced the Buddhist text Therigatha, emphasizing its potential for exploring various perspectives in education and research. She highlighted that knowledge production is a collective effort and should be viewed as multidisciplinary.
Examples from Charakasamhita and Susrutasamhita were shared to illustrate that knowledge cannot be studied without considering its context. Dr. Muthulekshmi encouraged academicians to create collaborative projects that integrate different knowledge branches, viewing knowledge as a dynamic and evolving process. The event was attended by faculty and student coordinators involved in the IKS initiative.
