Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar assured of writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a national level celebration of Basava Jayanti.
Inaugurating the 45th Sharana Kammata and Anubhav Mantapa Utsava, organised by the Vishwa Basava Dharma Trust at Basava Kalyana, Vijayashankar said that he is also in favour of celebrating Basava Jayanti at the national level and will discuss this with the Prime Minister.
Responding to another demand by seers, he pressed for the establishment of a Vachana university on the Anubhava Mantapa premises at Basava Kalyana. It is the need of the hour to spread the messages of sharanas and there is a need for a university to do the same, he added.
Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre assured that the state government will set up a Vachana university in the coming days.
Anubhava Mantapa President Basavalinga Pattaddevaru, Tontada Siddharam Mahaswamiji, Ilkal Guru Mahant Swamiji, and others were present on the occasion.
