Two individuals involved in the theft of mobile phones have been arrested by the Upparapet police. The arrests come after an extensive investigation into a case filed on April 22, when Java Piyadudar, a commuter from Shimoga, reported the theft of his mobile phone at the BMTC Bus Stand in Bangalore.

Upon registering the complaint, Upparapet police launched a thorough inquiry, leading to the detention and interrogation of a suspect at the BMTC Bus Stand on the same day. Subsequent information provided by this individual led to the arrest of two more suspects in Gopalpur, Bagalur, on May 7. Following interrogation, both suspects confessed to their inavolvement in the theft.

The arrested individuals were presented before the Court, and subsequently remanded to police custody for 10 days. Further investigations, guided by information obtained from the suspects, resulted in a significant breakthrough. Law enforcement officials managed to seize a staggering 176 mobile phones of various brands, collectively valued at ₹22.40 lakh. Additionally, a Toyota Etias car believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes was also confiscated.

These arrests have not only resulted in the recovery of stolen property but have also led to the detection of three cases of mobile phone theft under the purview of the Upparapet police station. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to unravel further details surrounding the operation.
