Inter-State Thief Arrested For Stealing Laptops

The case of thefts targeting laptops in the vicinity of Dayananda Sagar College Road, with the arrest of an inter-state thief. The suspect, who allegedly operated under the cover of darkness and early morning hours, has been detained after a thorough investigation by the Kumaraswamy Layout Police.

The incident came to light when residents of a house near Dayananda Sagar College, who are also students of the institution, reported the theft of three laptops and a mobile phone, collectively valued at 2.3 Lakhs. The theft occurred while the occupants were asleep, with the room left unlocked after their early morning study session.

Following the filing of a complaint, police embarked on a comprehensive inquiry, utilizing CCTV footage and other resources to track down the culprit. Their efforts led them to a person residing in a paying guest accommodation in Katanapet, who was subsequently taken into custody for questioning. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.

On May 9, the suspect was presented before the Hon’ble Court and remanded to police custody for 12 days. Continuing their investigation, law enforcement officials further probed the matter, resulting in the recovery of stolen laptops. These laptops, allegedly disposed of in Shankarpur, Tamil Nadu, were traced back to the suspect, bringing the total number of seized laptops to 25.
