The Calcutta High Court made a significant decision on Wednesday, issuing a directive that mandates the inclusion of a special officer from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters in New Delhi to be integrated into the Special Investigation Team (SIT) responsible for overseeing the investigation of the multi-crore cash-for-school job case in West Bengal. The appointed officer for this critical role is Snehangshu Biswas, an experienced investigator known for his commendable track record within the CBI. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay emphasized Biswas’s expertise, foreseeing that his involvement could expedite and enhance the progress of the ongoing inquiry.

Justice Gangopadhyay further instructed the CBI authorities to ensure the presence of Snehangshu Biswas in Kolkata by October 20, emphasizing that his active participation in the investigation team should continue until the conclusive resolution of the case. Additionally, the Justice emphasized the necessity for the CBI to present a comprehensive report detailing the advancements in the investigation after the conclusion of the Durga Puja holidays. The report is expected to be submitted in a sealed envelope to the court.

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for November 29, during which the officials from the central agency are obligated to present the detailed report to the court. This decisive move by the Calcutta High Court underscores its unwavering commitment to ensuring the timely and thorough handling of the sensitive school job case in West Bengal, reaffirming the judiciary’s dedication to upholding the principles of justice and accountability.
