Film musician AR Rahman who has been busy composing for the magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ has now reportedly collaborated with the first woman filmmaker from UAE for her upcoming film. According to reports, Nayla Al Khaja, the first female film director of UAE has teamed up with the musician for her upcoming film ‘Baab’.
AR Rahman speaking to the media, reportedly said that he is delighted to be working with the UAE director Nayla and added that she is a passionate and promising filmmaker. He added that Nayla has an important creative voice in the Gulf regions and said that ‘Baab’s script is thought provoking and it promises both visual and emotional engagement of a global audience.
AR Rahman also added that he is looking forward to working with Nayla for ‘Baab’. Reportedly, the movie will go on floors in 2003 and it is expected that the cast will be powerful from the UAE region.
An international media reported that director Nayla Al Khaja stated that with AR Rahman on board for her film, it will have a very lively and immersive journey that is authentic and real. AR Rahman signed up for this movie after he set up his Firdaus Studio in Dubai as part of the Dubai 2020 Expo. It is reported that the orchestra of Firdaus Studio has 50 women musicians from 23 Arab countries.
