Raam Reddy’s film ‘The Fable’ has created history by becoming the first Indian film to win the prestigious Best Film award at the Leeds International Film Festival 2024.
After premiering at the Berlinale Film Festival 2024 and earning the Special Jury Prize at the 2024 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, the film continues to garner international acclaim. The movie features an ensemble cast, including Manoj Bajpayee, Priyanka Bose, Deepak Dobriyal, Tillotama Shome, and Ravi Bisht.
Expressing his excitement, director Raam Reddy shared, “Presenting ‘The Fable’ at Leeds, an Academy Award-qualifying festival, was an incredible experience. Set in northeast India in 1989, ‘The Fable’ follows Dev (played by Bajpayee), the patriarch of a family living on a large colonial estate. Their tranquil life takes a dark turn when Dev discovers burnt trees and bushes on his property, leading to unexpected revelations.
This triumph at Leeds marks a significant milestone for Indian storytelling on the global stage.
