The Jayanagar police have registered a case against KS Eshwarappa, former Deputy Chief Minister and member of a nationalist group, for making a statement that allegedly threatens communal harmony. The case was filed on November 13 after Eshwarappa’s comments during a press conference at the Press House stirred tensions in society.
Police Inspector I Siddegowda of Jayanagar Police Station registered the case under the voluntary (Sumoto) clause, noting that Eshwarappa’s speech had been widely published in media outlets and newspapers. The statement was deemed likely to cause unrest and promote communal division.
According to the complaint, Eshwarappa’s remarks were intended to incite hatred against a particular group, further deepening societal disharmony. The complaint calls for legal action against Eshwarappa for making a provocative statement that could lead to increased tensions between different communities.
The police are now investigating the matter, and further legal proceedings are expected to follow based on the outcome of the investigation.
