Malleshwara Residents protest against slow civic work

Must read

Locals protested on Sunday, alleging that the ongoing work on the Malleswara assembly constituency was delaying and causing civilian disturbances.
Police seized protesters who held rallies from the Shivaji statue in Sadashivanagar to Sankey Lake, holding posters of ‘Save the Sankey Lake’, ‘Malleswara City of Potholes’ and ‘Stop Poor Work’.
“The work that is being done now is poor. There is suspicion of irregularities in the tender. The locals and traders are facing hardship due to the slowdown in the works,” the protesters complained.
“The Sankey Lake development project has been in the works for 12 years. They are not yet completed. The sidewalk has been carried out twice in four months.
“The sole contractor has been awarded tenders for all field works. Thus these are moving slowly. The Malleswara main road and Palace Guttahalli royal works are also slowing down. Officers are fired if they ask for information about the works. Though complaining about this is of no avail, Anoop Iyengar, a local resident, complained.
“The public should be made aware of all the work in the Malleswara sector. Works must be completed within three months. Quality should be prioritized. Otherwise, we will besiege the BBMP office in the next few days,” he warned.
