A Pakistani high court granted bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in the Toshakhana corruption case on Wednesday. Her bail comes nearly nine months after her arrest.

The Islamabad High Court, presided over by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, accepted her bail plea against a surety bond of Rs1 million. This decision provides significant relief to Bushra, who had been arrested following a conviction that sentenced both her and Khan to 14 years in jail in January.

During the hearing, the judge questioned the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer regarding the need for further investigation, to which the officer confirmed that none was required.

The Toshakhana case revolves around allegations that the couple profited from the illegal sale of gifts received from foreign dignitaries. Bushra, a spiritual healer, is Khan’s third wife.

Indictment proceedings against Khan and Bushra were scheduled for Wednesday but were postponed due to security concerns, leading to rescheduling for October 26. Reports suggest that Bushra is not facing charges in any other cases and can be released once the bail bond is submitted.
