Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that he reached “good agreements” with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance cooperation between Iran and India during their meeting in Kazan, held on the sidelines of the BRICS summit on Wednesday.
Pezeshkian highlighted plans to expand ties aimed at fostering prosperity and security in both nations, along with initiatives to establish a communication network among regional countries that would benefit their economies.
This meeting was Pezeshkian’s first with Modi since taking office in July. He emphasized India’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations, despite challenges posed by regional conflicts, particularly following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
Modi expressed concerns about escalating tensions in West Asia and reiterated India’s call for de-escalation. Both leaders underscored the importance of the Chabahar Port for the reconstruction of Afghanistan and enhancing trade with Central Asia, with Pezeshkian hoping for accelerated implementation of related agreements.
Pezeshkian proposed creating a communication network among regional nations, noting that BRICS could facilitate this initiative, promoting welfare and security across their countries.
