The Punjab government in Pakistan will offer PKR 10,000 (about INR 3,000) to 2,200 Sikh and Hindu families as part of a ‘festival card’ initiative to celebrate Diwali and Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary. This program, directed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday, aims to support these communities during their important festivals.

In addition, special arrangements are underway for foreign pilgrims arriving for the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, set for November 15 at Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib. A new visa automation system has been implemented to streamline the entry process for over 3,000 Sikh pilgrims from India and 1,000 from other countries.

The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has emphasized that security measures are being strengthened, with 100 security personnel receiving specialized training to ensure the safety of pilgrims. Enhanced transportation and accommodation services will be provided to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

Punjab’s first Sikh minister, Ramesh Singh Arora, expressed optimism about the celebrations, stating that they would be conducted with great enthusiasm and care. The government aims to ensure that all necessary facilities are available for the pilgrims, highlighting their commitment to hospitality and security during this significant religious observance.
