New Delhi
On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court granted regular bail to businessman Amit Katyal on medical grounds. Katyal, who is facing charges in a land-for-job money laundering case, was also linked with former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, and former DCM Tejaswi Yadav, as stated in the supplementary charge sheet.
Justice Neena Bansal Krishna issued the bail, although the detailed order is still pending. Katyal had previously been granted interim bail on medical grounds, including a previous 84-day interim bail period.
Senior advocate Vikas Pahwa, representing Katyal, highlighted that his client was the only one arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in this case. He pointed out that the main accused, Lalu Prasad Yadav, was charged but not arrested by the ED. Pahwa also noted that Katyal, who was arrested in November 2023, was a witness in a related CBI case and had undergone surgery due to poor health. The ED’s counsel opposed the bail, arguing that there is substantial evidence against Katyal, implicating him in the money laundering offense.
