A district-level youth parliament competition was organized for high school students at the Zilla Panchayat hall in Birasandra village. This initiative was a collaboration between the Bangalore Rural Zilla Panchayat, the Parliamentary Affairs Department, and the District School Education Department.
Forty-eight students from four taluks participated in the competition. During the event, students took on roles such as Speaker, ruling party members, and opposition party members. They engaged in mock discussions on various important issues, which showcased their understanding of parliamentary procedures.
The competition included debates on topics such as zero hour discussions and question identification. The aim was to raise awareness about the role of representative bodies and to strengthen the foundations of democracy. It also focused on developing tolerance for differing opinions and improving students’ ability to express their views clearly.
Prizes were awarded to six students for their outstanding performances, with two of them selected to represent the district at the state-level youth parliament competition. The program was overseen by the subject inspector of the school education department. Additionally, various education officials and judges from the district were present to support the students in this educational initiative.
