BJP Bengaluru Central District President Saptagirigowda has criticized the minister for taking legal action regarding the recent tax hikes in Bengaluru. At a press conference, he stated that since the Congress government came to power in Karnataka, taxes have increased for the common people. The party has been actively protesting and raising public awareness about this issue.
It was noted that the state’s health minister and his wife filed a writ petition concerning the tax increase. They approached the BBMP to modify their building’s map after receiving a notice for unpaid taxes of approximately 45 to 50 lakhs. Saptagirigowda questioned the implications of these tax hikes for ordinary citizens.
He expressed concern over the condition of roads in areas like Chikkapet and Balepet, stating that only the main roads are being repaired while smaller roads remain neglected. The minister’s actions were highlighted as an example of the ongoing tax increase issue.
Saptagirigowda emphasized that if municipal elections had been held, residents could have approached their local corporators for assistance. He concluded by noting that the current situation has made it difficult for the common people, who are facing significant tax burdens.
