On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the Union Cabinet’s decision on ‘One Nation, One Election,’ calling it a significant step toward electoral reform. He highlighted that this decision showcases PM Modi’s strong commitment to enhancing democracy through transparent elections and optimizing resource use to boost growth.

In a post on X, Amit Shah noted that under Modi’s leadership, India has seen transformative changes. He emphasized that the Cabinet’s approval of the One Nation, One Election proposal marks a major advancement in electoral reforms. This proposal aims to synchronize Lok Sabha and assembly elections, with urban body and panchayat elections scheduled within 100 days.

The High-Level Committee on Simultaneous Elections, led by former President Ram Nath Kovind, delivered its comprehensive 18,626-page report to President Droupadi Murmu earlier this year. The report is the result of 191 days of extensive consultations and research, reflecting thorough stakeholder engagement and expert analysis.
