Social media influencers boost tourism efforts

Wayanad

Following the recent devastating landslides in Wayanad, which resulted in nearly 400 deaths and left about 90 people missing, around 30 social media influencers from South India have united to support the region’s tourism. Wayanad, a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists, is gradually recovering as the new tourist season approaches.

The initiative to involve these influencers was spearheaded by State Tourism and Public Works Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas. On Tuesday, Riyas launched the Tourism Department’s official video, Ente Keralam Ennum Sundaram, in Mananthavady. The campaign will be promoted outside Kerala under the tagline ‘It’s Kerala Season’.

Riyas, who is the son-in-law of CM Pinarayi Vijayan, met with vloggers and bloggers as part of the promotional strategy for Kerala Tourism. The campaign aims to highlight Wayanad’s adventure tourism opportunities and its cultural and ethnic heritage through a ‘Tribal Cultural Festival’ planned for this year.
