Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who recently won silver at the Paris Olympics, has secured his spot in the Diamond League finale in Brussels. He finished fourth in the overall standings after 14 series meetings.

The Diamond League season finale will take place over two days on September 13 and 14.

Chopra, who won the Diamond League title in 2022, participated in the Doha and Lausanne meets, earning 14 points from his second-place finishes. He chose to skip the Zurich event on Thursday. Currently, Chopra is just two points behind Czechia’s Jakub Vadlech, who is in third place. Grenada’s Anderson Peters and Germany’s Julian Weber lead the standings with 29 and 21 points, respectively.

At 26, Chopra has made history as the second Indian track and field athlete to win two Olympic medals. He won gold at the Tokyo Olympics and silver in Paris. Despite battling a groin injury in Paris, Chopra threw 89.45 meters, an improvement from his Tokyo gold-winning throw of 87.58 meters. However, he was outperformed by Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters.
