After a 637-day wait, Rishabh Pant is set to return to Test cricket on September 19 as India faces Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Pant, who has been sidelined since a serious accident on December 30, 2022, will make his comeback in the very format and against the same opposition he last played against in Mirpur.

Pant’s remarkable journey back to the game is seen as a major achievement. Since his debut in 2018, Pant has dazzled fans with his fearless batting and lively wicket-keeping, often saving the team in challenging situations. His return is not only a personal victory but also a boost for the Indian team.

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel praised Pant’s resilience. His comeback after such a severe accident is inspiring. Pant has worked incredibly hard during his rehabilitation. His wicket-keeping has improved significantly since the 2021 England series, and he remains a powerful left-handed batter, Patel noted.

As India prepares for a demanding season, including a five-Test tour of Australia, managing Pant’s workload will be crucial. Patel anticipates that backup wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel might get a chance in one of the home Tests to help manage Pant’s fitness.
