Residents of Kanakapura Road apartments staged a protest against the City Corporation’s parking works near JP Nagar metro station on Monday. The BBMP has begun constructing a parking lot just a few meters from the station.
The existing footpath on the road has reduced the road’s width, causing traffic problems. Residents opposed the parking construction, arguing that it would worsen the traffic situation. Protesters, including Yakshagana dolls dressed as Mahatma Gandhi, voiced their concerns creatively.
They demanded that the corporation halt unscientific parking work, citing increased traffic issues. Slogans were raised against the parking project, with residents threatening further agitation if the work continued. Veteran actress Sudha Belawadi also joined the protest.
