Under the leadership of AIDSO, a students’ convention was held at UVCE Alumni Association Hall to protest against the corruption and cheating scandals plaguing the NEET and NET examinations on Monday.
Addressing the convention, AIDSO State Treasurer Subhash condemned the leakage of NEET UG question papers before the examination and criticized the lack of proper investigation into the matter. He highlighted the consequences of governmental negligence and the commercialization of the examination system, which he claimed is causing the collapse of the medical entrance exams and adversely affecting innocent students.
Abhaya Diwakar, State Vice-President of AIDSO, labeled the NEET and NET exam scams as the largest in the education sector’s history. She criticized the governance system for appointing individuals allegedly involved in the scandal to investigate the corruption itself, emphasizing the injustice faced by 24 lakh affected students.
The convention was attended by AIDSO State President Ashwini KS, State Secretary Ajay Kamath, Vice Presidents Apoorva and Chandrakala, State Office Secretary Mahantesh Bilur, as well as students from various colleges including medical institutions.
Key Demands of the Convention:
1. Conduct medical entrance tests at the state level.
2. Scrap the National Testing Agency (NTA) immediately.
3. Initiate a high-level impartial judicial inquiry into the NEET-UG, UGC-NET, and NEET-PG scams, and ensure strict punishment for those responsible.
