Police in Thane district, Maharashtra, have filed a case against a man accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman and attempting to traffic her for the sale of her kidney, an official reported on Sunday.

According to the FIR, the accused, identified as Rahul, also known by aliases such as Vasim, Chandan, and Kundankumar, allegedly assaulted the woman at his residence in Nalasopara recently. The investigation revealed that Rahul had been communicating with two other women with the intent to traffic the victim for organ sale.

On Saturday, these two women allegedly attempted to take the 20-year-old to a hospital to hand her over to Rahul under threats. However, their plan was thwarted. A fourth woman, becoming aware of Rahul’s activities, informed the police. Acting on her complaint, the police have charged Rahul under the Indian Penal Code for rape and human trafficking.

This incident underscores the serious nature of crimes against women and the efforts required to protect their rights and safety within communities.
