LG Electronics, a prominent manufacturer of consumer electronics based in South Korea, announced on Sunday its adoption of human rights principles aimed at preventing violations within the company and its network of contractors.
According to sources, LG Electronics stated in a press release that it has consolidated its existing human rights policies and enhanced them to align closely with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). These principles explicitly prohibit discrimination, harassment, forced labor, and child labor in all workplaces.
They also address issues such as working hours, wages, welfare benefits, and ethical considerations related to artificial intelligence. The initiative underscores LG Electronics’ commitment to promoting a fair and respectful workplace environment across its operations and supply chain.
