Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray expressed concerns on Friday regarding transparency in the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) engineering exams. He called for students’ answer sheets to be disclosed and their marks to be made public, emphasizing the need for clarity in the exam process.

During a press conference, Thackeray criticized the organization of MH-CET, describing it as unconventional with two papers administered in 30 batches, one of which was split into 24 batches. He insisted that students should have access to their answer sheets and be informed of their scores, advocating for the recognition of top performers.

Thackeray also referenced issues with other exams like NEET and UGC-NET, alleging that both central and state governments are jeopardizing students’ futures. MH-CET, overseen by the Maharashtra government, facilitates admissions into various professional courses including engineering, management, pharmacy, and others.

Highlighting concerns from students, Thackeray stated there were 54 errors in the exam papers, with 1,425 objections raised. He pointed out instances where all options for answers in a multiple-choice section were reportedly incorrect.

Thackeray criticized the percentile ranking system used for results, citing disparities due to varying difficulty levels across different exam batches. He questioned the rationale behind such exam setups and called for accountability, questioning why the agency head responsible for conducting the exam had not been suspended.
