Bengaluru
It is the responsibility of every Kannadigas to protect the Kannada language, land and water. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called that it is very necessary to create a Kannada atmosphere in Karnataka.
He was addressing the programme on Thursday after performing Bhoomi Puja for the construction of a bronze statue of Nada Devi Bhuvaneshwari near the western entrance of Vidhana Soudha as part of the Karnataka Namakarana Suvarna Mahotsava on behalf of the Department of Kannada and Culture.
I speak in Kannada to everyone who lives in Karnataka. It should be concluded that no language other than Kannada is spoken. Kannadigas are generous, that is why there is an environment in Karnataka where even those who speak other languages live without learning Kannada. If you go to Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Kerala you will speak in their mother tongue. We also have to deal in our mother tongue. That should make us proud. He said that there is no need to be inferior in it, he said.
He said that he hopes that Mother Bhuvaneshwari will inspire everyone in this regard. The work has to be completed by November A bronze statue of about 25 feet height will be constructed in the premises of Vidhana Soudha. It is suggested that it should be attractive to the people. We have installed statues of many politicians. I think the statue will add to the charm of the Vidhana Soudha, he said.
Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraja Horatti, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Kannada and Culture Minister Shivraj Thangadagi and MLAs were present.
