Mandya
The activists of Karnataka State Raitha Sangh (Farmers’ faction) staged a protest in the city on Thursday, demanding severe punishment for actor Darshan, Pavitra Gowda and their accomplices, who were arrested in the case of kidnapping and gruesome murder of a youth named Renukaswamy from Chitradurga.
The farmers, who took out a procession from Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar Circle of the city, went to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and submitted a petition to the Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner.
Films are a powerful visual medium that can bring change in society. We have seen people who changed their lives after being inspired by Bangarada Manushya. However, Darshan, who acted as an ideal hero in the film and acted like a villain in real life and killed an innocent youth, has brought a stain on the Kannada film industry, farmers expressed outrage.
If Renukaswamy had done something wrong, there was a chance to take action according to the law. However, it is an unforgivable crime to ignore the law and kill him. All the accused arrested in the case should be given severe punishment, he said.
Since influential people are involved in the murder, there is a suspicion that the case will be covered up. Therefore, the CBI should be entrusted with the investigation. The police, who have already started the investigation, should conduct a fair investigation without being influenced by any influence, he said.
Darshan has a criminal background and many cases have already been registered. Karnataka Board of Film Commerce should ban him from cinema. Films in which he has acted should be boycotted. He should not be called to campaign in elections. If he campaigns then people should not vote for such a candidate.
Ingalaguppe Krishna Gowda of Raitha Sangha led the protest.
