A complaint has been lodged with the Lokayukta against former Health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar, MLA Pradeep Eshwar, and state government Principal Secretaries. Social activist Praveen Kumar filed the complaint, accusing them of illegal activities related to Covid. The state government initiated an inquiry, led by retired judge John Michael Cunha, into alleged Covid-related irregularities during Sudhakar’s tenure.
The inquiry was tasked with investigating the procurement of medicine, equipment, oxygen management, and deaths due to oxygen shortage, based on findings from the Public Accounts Committee held in July-August 2021. Despite a three-month deadline, the commission has yet to submit its report, stretching beyond eight months. Meanwhile, Pradeep Eshwar implied Sudhakar’s involvement in a cover-up, alleging ties with Congress leaders. Health officials allegedly provided misleading information to the inquiry, prompting calls for legal action against Sudhakar and implicated officials.
