New Zealand’s explosive young batsman, Finn Allen, created T20I history by equalling the world record for the most sixes in an innings during the third T20I against Pakistan. Allen’s incredible display saw him launch 16 sixes, matching the feat achieved by Hazratullah Zazai against Ireland in 2019. The 24-year-old’s extraordinary innings didn’t stop there, as he went on to amass 137 runs from just 62 balls. This outstanding performance not only secured a world record for the most sixes but also set a new record for the highest individual score by a New Zealand player in men’s T20I internationals. Finn Allen’s 137 surpassed Brendon McCullum’s previous record of 123 against Bangladesh in 2012. New Zealand, riding on Allen’s fireworks, posted a formidable total of 224/7 in their 20 overs at the University Oval in Dunedin. Tim Seifert’s contribution of 31 runs was the next highest in the innings. Choosing to bowl after winning the toss, Pakistan struggled to contain the onslaught, with Haris Rauf being the pick of the bowlers, picking up two wickets but conceding 60 runs. Despite the early wicket of Devon Conway, New Zealand’s run rate remained consistently high throughout the innings, crossing the 200-mark with Allen’s six off the first ball of the 18th over. While Allen’s explosive innings eventually came to an end, Pakistan managed to curb the scoring in the final two overs, limiting New Zealand to 224/7. The remarkable display of power hitting by Finn Allen left cricket fans in awe and etched his name in T20I record books.
