Keacy Carty made history on Thursday as he became the first player from Sint Maarten to score an international century, leading the West Indies to an eight-wicket victory over England in the third ODI in Barbados. Carty’s unbeaten 128 off 114 balls guided the Windies to chase down England’s total of 263/8 with seven overs to spare, securing a 2-1 series win.
Carty, playing in his 50th international match, dazzled with 15 fours and two sixes, taking advantage of England’s bowling attack. He shared a solid partnership with Brandon King, who also impressed with 102 runs off 117 balls.
England, who had been put into bat after losing the toss, got off to a good start with opener Phil Salt’s 74 runs. However, the middle order failed to build on this, and the visitors posted a modest total. Matthew Forde led the West Indies’ bowling attack, taking three wickets for 35 runs.
In the chase, Carty and King’s dominant performances helped the West Indies comfortably reach the target, with England’s bowlers failing to defend the total. Reece Topley and Jamie Overton were the only wicket-takers for England as they faced an eight-wicket defeat.
