Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Ishwara B Khandre said that a joint survey of forest and revenue department officials will be carried out in order to demarcate the boundaries of forest land and map it accurately.

He answered the questions of MLAs during the question and answer session of the Legislature   session on Thursday.

According to the Karnataka Forest Rules, it is mandatory to obtain the consent of the Deputy Conservator of Forests prior to allotment of land within 100 meters adjacency to District Forest or Protected Forest. When the farmer requests a letter of approval regarding the cultivation certificate of the Revenue Department, it is checked with the records, notifications and maps of the Forest Department and a back letter is given as to whether the land falls under the forest area or not. He said that in case there is no detailed information regarding the survey number for the notified and deemed forest forest areas, a joint effort will be made with the revenue department to issue objection letter.

When a joint survey was conducted about the forest land in beltangadi region no. 69, it was found that 500 acres more land is with the forest department land. The government should conduct a joint survey to demarcate forest land boundaries. MLA Harish Poonja requested the Minister to set a time limit for the Forest and Revenue Department mojani.
