Kumar Tuhin new Ambassador of India to the Netherlands, per MEA

Kumar Tuhin has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday. A member of the 1991 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, Tuhin currently serves as the Director General at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and is expected to begin his new role soon.

Tuhin’s career began in 1993 at the Indian Mission in Hong Kong, followed by a position as a political officer at the Indian Embassy in Beijing from 1995 to 1999. He has held several significant roles, including in India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva (1999-2002) and as Deputy Consul General in San Francisco (2009-2012). He was the Ambassador to Hungary from November 2018 to November 2021 and High Commissioner to Namibia from June 2015 to October 2018.

In New Delhi, he has worked on various aspects of foreign policy, particularly focusing on China and East Asia. Tuhin is a trained mechanical engineer and served in the Indian Railways before entering the foreign service. His extensive experience in diplomacy equips him well for his upcoming assignment.
