Gokak MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi denied allegations made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that the BJP is attempting to buy an MLA for ₹50 crore to topple the Congress government. He stated that the accusation lacked substance and claimed he did not understand its basis.
Speaking at an event in Athani taluk, Jarkiholi clarified that the BJP has no intention of destabilizing the Congress government. He mentioned that he would have taken responsibility if any such plan existed, but no such efforts have been made.
Jarkiholi revealed that several Congress MLAs have been in contact with him since the Congress government came to power. He claimed to have advised them to remain with their party until the end of its tenure, despite their interest in joining the BJP.
Regarding other developments, Jarkiholi announced the start of a public awareness campaign about Waqf property on November 25. The campaign is being conducted under his leadership and that of Basanagowda Patil Yatnal.
He clarified that the campaign would be separate from the BJP’s official efforts. Jarkiholi stated that he has not accepted the leadership of BJP state president N. Vijayendra from the beginning and that a separate team would be formed to carry out the campaign.
