Measures are being taken by the tourism department, the district administration, and the archaeology department to conserve and protect historic articles in Lakkundi village. A special campaign to collect historic items from residents is being conducted by the tourism department under the guidance of the minister for Tourism and Law and Parliamentary Affairs. The campaign will continue until November 24.

The village of Lakkundi is known for its historical significance. Items such as palm leaves, inscriptions, statues, and other objects have been found in houses, lakes, fields, roads, and other places in the area. It is believed that these items reflect the heritage of the Kalyani Chalukya, Rashtrakuta, and Vijayanagara kingdoms. Many Chalukya-era architectural works are still present in the village.

Volunteers will visit houses across wards to collect articles. On November 24, the collected items will be handed over to archaeology department officials. A two-acre site in the village has been designated for the conservation of these items under the archaeology department’s supervision.

A museum is planned to preserve the articles and maintain records for inclusion in the World Book of Records. Efforts are being made to include Lakkundi on the world heritage list. Awareness programs are also being organized to inform residents about the importance of conserving historic items. This initiative aims to protect the heritage of Lakkundi for future generations.
