In a thrilling badminton showdown at the Guwahati Masters 2023, Indias dynamic duo, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto, emerged victorious in the womens doubles final. They secured their triumph by defeating the formidable pair from Chinese Taipei, Sung Shuo Yun and Yu Chien Hui, with a scoreline of 21-13, 21-19 in Guwahati, Assam on Sunday. This marks the second title for Ashwini and Tanisha as a pair, following their earlier success at the Abu Dhabi Masters Super 100 earlier this year. Notably, the duo showcased their prowess by reaching the final of the Syed Modi International Super 300 tournament in Lucknow just last week. The Indian shuttlers displayed dominance from the onset, taking control of the first game after an initial tie at 1-1. Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto steadily extended their lead, securing the first game convincingly. Maintaining their momentum into the second game, the Indian pair held a five-point lead at the break. Despite a spirited fightback from the Taipei duo, narrowing the gap to one at 12-11, Ashwini and Tanisha remained resilient. The match reached a tense juncture as the Taipei pair leveled the score at 19-all. However, backed by the support of the home crowd, the Indian duo secured the final two points, sealing the title. The Guwahati Masters 2023 results carry additional significance as they will impact players qualifying rankings for the Paris 2024 Olympics, adding an extra layer of importance to the hard-fought victory by Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto.
