Lalrinzuala Lalbaknia, R. Ramdinthara, and Joe Zoherliana each contributed a goal to Aizawl FCs impressive win. Aizawl FC, currently riding a wave of success, capitalized on their winning momentum to effortlessly overcome Lajongs challenge. Despite Shillong Lajong enjoying over 70% possession during the match, this defeat marked the end of their unbeaten run. The match held significant importance for both teams, with Shillong Lajong and Aizawl FC competing for the coveted I-League title. However, the loss dealt a blow to Lajongs title aspirations, leaving them in the fourth spot with 16 points from nine matches, including four victories and four draws. In contrast, Aizawl FCs triumph away from home elevated them to the second spot in the standings, trailing behind Mohammedan Sporting with 17 points from nine matches—comprising five wins, two draws, and two losses. Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia set the tone for Aizawls victory by netting the opening goal in the fourth minute. Exploiting a defensive lapse, Lalbiaknia showcased his goal-scoring prowess, securing his ninth goal of the tournament. Aizawl doubled their lead in the 17th minute when R. Ramdinthara capitalized on a well-delivered cross from Lalthanmawia. The third goal came in the 57th minute, courtesy of a mistake by Lajong goalkeeper Bishal Lama, with Joe Zoherliana heading home after a corner from Lalthanmawia.
