In response to the killing of Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah by Israeli forces, National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi stated that halting the election campaign was a form of protest to show solidarity with the resistance. He emphasized that Nasrallah’s death was a significant loss for those fighting against Israel, as he had been a powerful figure in the struggle. Mehdi expressed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir understand the injustices faced by Palestinians and have always supported their cause.

Earlier, the Israeli Defence Forces confirmed Nasrallah’s death during airstrikes in Beirut, claiming he would no longer be able to terrorize others. Mehdi called for an end to the violence in Gaza and Lebanon, urging Indian leaders to pressure Israel for peace. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also canceled her campaign to express solidarity with the victims in Palestine and Lebanon. Additionally, a protest march occurred in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, condemning Nasrallah’s killing.
