Minister Chandru, the state president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), held a press conference criticizing the BJP and Congress for their alleged negligence of non-BJP states’ interests. Chandru expressed concern that despite having 25 BJP MPs in the state, there is no active pursuit of the state’s share of GST and drought relief. He accused the Modi-led government of favoring BJP-ruled states and suppressing non-BJP states. Chandru highlighted the lack of discussion on backward sections and drought relief in the ongoing house session in Belgaum. He criticized the ruling parties, including the BJP and Congress, for not prioritizing the issues affecting the state, particularly the drought situation. During the press conference, Chandru raised concerns about corruption within the BJP and Congress, citing the resignation of KS Eshwarappa and the allegations against Madal Virupakshappa. He accused the central investigative agencies of being misused and called for a focus on addressing farmers’ concerns, including fair support prices for sugarcane growers. The AAP state president also spoke against family politics, citing examples within the BJP and Congress. Chandru emphasized the need for an alternative to the existing political parties, presenting AAP as a viable option. He announced AAP’s plans to engage with the public through programs in districts and taluks, addressing issues such as education quality, healthcare, farmers’ rights, youth opportunities, women’s equality, corruption elimination, and family politics eradication. Chandru expressed support for a caste census, calling for its scientific implementation and compulsory adoption across the country. He criticized the BJP’s expulsion of Mahua Moitra and vowed to fight fiercely if the caste census is not accepted, underlining the importance of caste-based reservation. The AAP state president urged the public to reject caste and family politics, offering AAP as an alternative in the upcoming district and taluk elections. He concluded by stating that AAP would abide by the decisions of national-level leaders in parliamentary elections and announced plans for a state-wide tour in the next seven to eight months.
