In a significant setback for actor Dileep, a key figure in the 2017 actress abduction case, the Kerala High Court has issued orders for a court-monitored investigation following the victim’s claim that visuals of the assault were leaked. Despite being stored on a memory card held by the court overseeing the trial, the victim asserted that the assault footage was leaked.
Her concerns were substantiated by a forensic report, prompting the High Court to direct a district judge to investigate the matter. The judge is expected to submit the report within one month. Dileep vehemently objected to this decision.
The court additionally empowered the district judge to seek expert assistance from the police or other sources to aid in the investigation. Furthermore, the court emphasized the initiation of proper criminal proceedings if it is determined that someone has tampered with the memory card.
Notably, a prominent South Indian actress, who later revealed her identity, filed a complaint in 2017, alleging abduction and sexual assault by a gang of assailants who recorded the incident for blackmail purposes. Following the arrest and questioning of the main accused, Sunil, Dileep was implicated as the primary conspirator, leading to his arrest and subsequent release on bail after spending several weeks in jail.
