New Delhi
The Tis Hazari Court in Delhi has granted two days of custody to police for Jyoti Prakash, alias Jyoti, in the Raj Mandir Hyper Market firing case related to extortion. The incident occurred on Wednesday outside Raj Mandir Hyper Market in Meera Bagh, Paschim Vihar. Jyoti Prakash is the elder brother of Kapil Sangwan, alias Nandu, a gangster currently in the US, who allegedly threatened the market owner for extortion.
Judicial Magistrate Ankit Karan Singh approved the custody to help police investigate the alleged conspiracy. According to the investigation officer, the brothers operate together, with Jyoti from within India and Nandu from abroad. The officer stated that the accused orchestrated a shooting of ten rounds via WhatsApp extortion messages. Defense lawyers argued that police custody was unnecessary and expressed concerns over the accused’s safety. The court instructed the SHO to ensure Jyoti’s security during his custody.
