Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy visited the protest site held by the   District Farmers’ Welfare Committee and a coalition of many organisations on Tuesday and received the petition of the protestors and spoke in response to their demands.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made it clear to the farmers that the welfare of the farmers is the first priority of the government.

We are facing severe drought this year. The rain has completely stopped. Because of this, we are in a year of trouble without the reservoirs being filled.   We have strongly presented our case to the Cauvery Authority and the Committee that there is no water, so the water cannot be released.  We give first priority to drinking water and sustaining crops. We will try our best to save the Monsoon crop. I am the son of a farmer who has joined the farmer struggle.   I know the plight of farmers very well.   He clearly said that we are not just clinging to power. He assured that serious and practical action will be taken for the welfare of the farmers.

We have released Rs 50 crore to Mysugar Sugar Factory for the benefit of sugarcane growers. We are giving priority to safeguard the interests of farmers, he said.

Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy also assured about the commitment of the government towards the welfare of the farmers.

MLAs Ravi Ganiga, Dinesh Gooligowda, Narendraswamy listened to the demands of the protestors.
