Bengaluru

Starting today, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has officially announced the partial closure of the Central Junction Flyover for a duration of four months. The designated affected area, spanning 250 meters on both carriage lines, will be cordoned off with the installation of barricades to facilitate the ongoing construction work of the Namma Metro project. To minimize disruptions and potential traffic congestion in the vicinity of the Silk Board Junction Flyover, commuters and motorists are strongly advised to plan alternative routes during this period.

The temporary closure of the up and down ramp carriage way (Madivala side) of the Central Silk Board Junction flyover has been necessitated by the critical metro infrastructure development, crucial for connecting the Silk Board Flyover to the Kempegowda International Airport. The BMRCL has emphasized its commitment to accelerating the progress of this vital project while acknowledging the inconveniences that the public may experience as a result. The corporation has sought the cooperation and understanding of the public throughout the duration of the necessary construction activities.

Nonetheless, the decision to close one side of the Silk Board Junction and Madiwala has sparked significant public discontent, particularly among motorists who foresee potential exacerbation of traffic congestion and delays. Of particular concern is the potential impact on the daily commute of workers heading to the numerous IT and BT companies located in the surrounding area. This has underscored the urgent need for the implementation of efficient and well-structured traffic management strategies to mitigate the potential inconveniences during the ongoing construction phase, ensuring minimal disruption to the daily lives of Bengaluru’s residents.
